Winter Update

Dear Members and Associates,

It has been a mild winter but we have been going strong improving our campground in anticipation of the AANR Convention and the celebration of our 75th anniversary. We have made some exciting improvements with still more to come.

I am pleased to write to all of you this morning to let you know that our shower area and hall is complete and looking fantastic. Vance, the tile guy, did a great job and I am sure that you will all be pleased with the new shower. He has completed everything with the exception of some minor repairs that he will do when he comes to put in the floor for the hot tub. Please use caution when entering the shower area because we now have curbs about 3 feet in off of both walls with the center open for passage. This is a necessary component to aide in directing the water to the drains and to keep any over flow from going into the hallway.

In addition to the new shower and hall areas, the shower controls have been completely rebuilt with new guts and new shower heads and the drains have all been re-plumbed. These upgrades should give us years of carefree use of the showers.

Our new hot tub is currently being built in Virginia and when complete, Al C and I will be taking a road trip to pick it up. We are looking for any member or associate who has, or knows where to get one at a reasonable cost, a 14 foot or larger box truck that we could borrow to make the trip. We are expecting to make it round trip in 2-3 days and of course will return it fueled and in the same shape that we got it. If anyone has one we can borrow, it would save us a considerable amount of money in rental fees.

This tub is a state of the art tub with multiple jets and an energy star rated pump with variable speeds. We will receive a credit from the State of Ct for this pump and it is so efficient that it will save us hundreds of dollars per year compared to the old pumps. We are hoping to have it installed by the St Patty's Day Dance. Because of the way it needs to be installed, we will have a brand new tile floor around the tub that will match the new shower and hall.

We have finally made some headway in the remodeling of the Arent Pavilion and are expecting the permits to be issued in the near future. We have had the pole evaluated and as expected, what we planned to do to repair it is exactly what we need to do. This recommendation will be included in the finished, certified plans being developed by a licensed engineer. We are hoping, at the very least, to get the doors and windows replaced and to get the decks built this spring.

Lastly, the well project is nearing completion and we are currently having the conduit installed to pull the wire to the new well. The plans have been submitted to the state and once the permit is issued we will begin tying our 2 wells together and supplying the camp with all the water we will ever need. We have a promised date of April 1 to have the project done as long as there are no more hurdles.

We have a fantastic season planned and will continue to work diligently to make Solair the best nudist resort in the AANR family. Sheila and I hope to see all of you this Saturday for the Valentines dance and the unveiling of our new shower and hall.

Regards,
President Paul
