The New Deck

After several long weeks with many interruptions, thanks to Mother Nature, I am proud to announce that the final deck on the Community Center is complete. This deck ties all of the decks together and you can now go from the pool area to the canteen deck without having to walk through the building. It is a very large deck as is obvious when you look at the 25 new lounge chairs on it and how much room is still available.

We decided to change the style of rails that are on the deck to a ballustrade system. This is mainly for ease of repair, you can change out 1 or 2 ballusters if they should warp or break instead of changing out a whole lattice panel. Cost wise, it is a much less expensive system to install and maintain and we have the added benefit of a more conventional, and in many folk's opinions, a much prettier rail system.

I would like to thank the many folks who came out to help this past week as well as throughout the project. It is not an easy venture to undertake such a large project and without the help of these folks, it would have been an impossible task.

We have one final deck project to complete in the next few weekes up near the gardens for the smokers. The plan is to have this deck, complete with new canopy, complete by July 4. If the weather holds it will be done.
